Spring is Here!! (for one day)

It was such a beautiful day here on Wednesday my kids had to pull out their bikes and go for a ride. It was a lot of fun being out in the sun and warm again. Too bad it couldn't last.

Ally finally figured out how to use the pedals. But, she quickly realized she could go much faster and keep up with her brother and friends if she just Flinstoned it and ran with her feet.

Having Fun Blogging

The blogging world has been such a fun one for me. And, thanks to my sweet friend Kelly Cabreros, I can now cutesy up my blog (I'm sure Jim will love the love the pink and flowers on our family blog). I really enjoy keeping up to date on friends' lives by viewing their blogs and I hope you all are enjoying keeping up with the Marks' family. I only hope I can keep updating this as much as I would like to. It is a fun way to record the happenings of our family.

Bestest Friend

Last night as we were getting the kids ready for bed (after a long afternoon since both Mom and Dad have a cold), Ally was telling me how I was her 'bestest mom' and dad was her 'bestest dad.' Not too hard since we are her only Mom and Dad, but it was still cute. Then she started on Andrew. I thought she would say that he was her 'bestest brother' but instead she said that he is her 'best friend.' It was so cute. I am so lucky to have the kids I do. They are true brother and sister and fight over silly things like a stick fishing pole in the car this morning, but they really love each other and are so good to each other. Andrew is often the first to comfort Ally when she is upset and vice versa. It's so fun to see them interact with one another and I pray they will continue to be so close as they grow.

Life's Lessons

I am still trying to update our blog to include Spring Break but I had to skip ahead. Yesterday we had one of those 'put things in perspectives' days. I took Ally in for her three-year checkup. No big deal, we were just at the Instacare last week for a virus and everything else checked out fine. The doctor put her on the table, and I have to say, she was perfect. Usually my kids scream and cry as soon as they are asked to get on the table, but yesterday, she did everything the doctor asked. He started by listening to her heart and kept listening, and listening. Then he had her lie down on her back and continued to listen to her heart. As the time went on I started to get nervous. Suddenly every possible bad thing that could happen started going through my mind. The minutes passed and he kept listening, moving his stethoscope around. Finally he took off his stethoscope. He barely had it off and I asked if I should be concerned. He said that he found a murmur. Panic immediately set in, but he said he thinks it's just the way her heart is developing now and as it progresses should be gone. So, what started as panic ended in good news. The really good thing is that it made me really look at what is important. The kids and I spent the afternoon at the park and outside doing whatever they wanted. I didn't worry about my house or dinner (sorry Jim). All in all, it was a good day, a little emotional but good. I'm so grateful for my two wonderful children I have been blessed with. I know not to take any day for granted. One of my favorite sayings is 'the days are long, but the years come quick.' I am becoming very much aware of this. There are days that bedtime can't come soon enough but I can't believe my kids are almost 6 and 3. It seems like they were just babies.
