Ally's First Birthday Party

Today Ally attended her first official birthday party. This was the first party she went to without Andrew, Mom or Dad and boy was she excited. It was all she talked about last night and this morning. She kept telling Andrew that she got to go to a party and he didn't because it was a girl party and boys aren't allowed. Andrew of course wasn't too happy he couldn't go to the party but I reminded him that he got to go to a couple parties without her. I just can't believe my baby is old enough to go to parties on her own.

Andrew's First Soccer Game

Last night was Andrew's first soccer game of the season. Okay, technically it was the second game of the season but since we had a guy come look at our dead A/C on Tuesday, he wasn't able to go. He really enjoyed the game and I was amazed at how well he played. He scored the ONLY goal for his team. Unfortunately they lost 2-1, but since he scored the goal, he still came home happy. Of course, me being the scatter brained Mom that I am, I got almost to the soccer field before I realized I left the camera at home and I thought things would be different when I stopped working. The good news is that there are plenty more games left in the season so I can guarantee pictures will be posted later.

Just the Way Life Goes Continued

I feel like I keep getting reassured that my decision to stay at home with my kids was the right one to make because Satan keeps attacking us financially. Friday our A/C wasn't working again so I called the company that worked on it two weeks ago. A guy came and looked at it and told me the motor and condenser are dead and it's cheaper to replace the entire unit then those two parts. We are trying to decide if we want to replace the unit this year and be cool for another month before it really cools down or wait until next spring. I am just grateful we were able to finish our basement so we have a cool place to escape when we need it. And, until we fix the A/C, we'll just continue to look for cool places to hang out, like the tile floor where I found Andrew sleeping the other night.

Happy Birthday Grandma Davis

Yesterday was my mom's birthday. We all got together at her house for pizza and cheesecake/brownie cake. It was a great night and celebration for a wonderful grandma and mom!! My mom is a wonderful Mom and grandma who loves her family very much. And, as you can tell by the pictures, she is also very loved!! Happy Birthday Mom!!!




I also have to add this picture, because it's not very often that Jim and I get a picture taken together.


It was a fun relaxing night which hopefully, Grandma got to enjoy since it was her day! We love you Mom!! Thanks so much for all you do for us! You are the BEST!!

Just the Way Life Goes Sometimes

So, right about the time I decided to quit my job our fridge and A/C started acting up. Well, we got the A/C fixed quickly because we couldn't handle the 100 degrees but decided to hold onto the fridge as long as possible. Monday after the ice was melting everywhere, we decided it was time to break down and buy a new one. It was delivered today and in Andrew's words, it's 'much cooler' than our old one. It will be nice to have ice and cold water once again.

First Day of 1st Grade

Well, today was the first day of all day school for Andrew. How time flies! I can't believe that summer is already over and I really can't believe my little boy is in school all day. I have to admit (and I know all you mom's of older kids will laugh at me) it was much harder on me this year than it was last year. Something about him being at school all day, eating lunch there, etc, etc. It sounds pretty sad coming from a mom who up until the last week has been working, but after dropping him off at school, I had a little cry in the car. It's been weird being at the house today without him. Even Ally has been missing him. She keeps asking me when he'll be home so they can go ride bikes around the park. She has been my little shadow all day...even now she's sitting on the desk watching me blog...



Just one more thing for us to get used to. I'm really happy for Andrew and can't wait to hear all about his first day.

Andrew's Trick

Friday night the kids were out riding their bikes with the neighbors. I decided to take advantage of the nice weather and sit on the grass, watch the kids and read my book. Andrew rode up to me and asked if I wanted to see his trick. He'd been practicing pulling on the handle bars to do a 'wheelie' so I figured that's what it was. He rode up our driveway to get 'some speed' and rode past me like this....



I could not believe my SIX year old knew how to do tricks like this. The funniest part is that every time he does it he lets out a loud 'wooo hooo.' He also likes to ride down the longer front steps to our house. I had been telling Jim how bad I felt 'cause I was always hammering Andrew when he didn't have his helmet on. Even when he was just riding on the sidewalk around the park. You can bet that with 'tricks' like these, he will have his helmet on every time he gets on his bike!

Terrible 3's

Well, we had one of those days the other day with Ally. The other day after a long day at work, we came home and I told the kids they could play outside while I was making dinner. After a while I couldn't see Ally so I went out looking for her. Our neighbor's little girl told me she was in our next door neighbors house. I went back in to quickly stir my noodles so they wouldn't burn and to put on my shoes. I opened my door and this is what was standing in front of me...



The picture really doesn't do it justice. Apparently Ally and my next door neighbor's little girl decided to get into the mom's makeup. They were both covered with powder and foundation. I was so embarrassed. I really wanted to die. I marched Ally right over to their house and made her apologize. We then came home and put her right in the bathtub. This is what our tub looked like after her bath...



I was so upset when Jim got home he had to remind me that she is only three. She and Hallie (the neighbor girl) both got in so much trouble, I think (really, really hope) they will stay away from makeup for a very long time.
