Rolls
For Jim's family Thanksgiving is all about the pies but for me, growing up, Thanksgiving was all about Grandma's rolls. My grandma's rolls are DELICIOUS!!! One of the things I miss about having Thanksgiving family with my family. I have wanted to try making rolls for a while now but because of the fear of ruining them I have talked myself out of it time and time again. Ever since we have been having Thanksgiving with the immediate Marks family (minus aunt, uncle and cousins) the rolls have been store bought. Don't get me wrong, I like store bought rolls, they just aren't Thanksgiving to me. This year I decided I would be in charge of the rolls. I was hoping to get a practice run in before Thanksgiving Day but since life is crazy I never got a chance. I woke up Thursday morning ready to make rolls but quite nervous they wouldn't work out. I quickly realized I didn't have any powdered milk or enough flour so I quickly raced down to Albertson's. I got the dough all made and in a bowl to raise. I got the dough rolled into rolls and put on cookie sheets to raise again. My first batch I cooked a little long but they were still okay. To make sure they were yummy I took one and split it between me, Andrew and Ally. I thought it was good, Ally said it was yummy and Andrew gave me a thumbs up with a nod. I took that as a good sign. I'm guessing Jim's family felt the same way because I have been given the task of bringing rolls again next year. SUCCESS!!

I think you need to practice your roll making skills through out the whole year... and I will happily volunteer as a taste tester.
